BIMEB

A B2C store for furniture-making materials where the customer had to make too many decisions before they could buy.

Furniture materials, B2C e-commerce and services

The situation

BIMEB sells materials for furniture production to consumer buyers and provides services around the furniture-making process. The catalogue is technical and the buyer is often not a professional.

The problem was decision load. A visitor had to work out the difference between products and services themselves, before they could act on either.

What we did
  • Market and competitor analysis first, then a review of the services architecture — specifically looking for places to reduce the number of decisions a customer is forced to make.
  • Restructured the store so products and services read as one journey rather than two catalogues.
  • Carried the work through user experience and interface to the finished store.

What changed

A store where the technical range is navigable by someone who does not know the range — which is the only kind of store that converts a first-time buyer into a repeat one.
